QUICK STEPS:
You can find the piano roll style media editor in any modern digital audio work station like Ableton Live or Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools, and Steinberg Cubase. Let’s take a look at a piano roll. Open the Piano Roll editor and engage the MIDI In at the top of the window. Playing notes on your MIDI keyboard will now enter notes sequentially on 1/8th steps. Retro Controller Retro Synth’s Controller section (found under the Settings page) is useful for using the Arpeggiator’s Velocity Grid as a dynamic sound modifier. There is an option inside the piano roll that will help take your one-note melody and transform it into brilliant chords. If you are ready to do this, open up the Piano Roll. Select Chord Type. Imagine, for example, having to open a separate Piano Roll editor each time you want to view the contents of a MIDI region. The dance would go something like this: select region 1, open Piano Roll editor, view contents, close editor. Now select region 2, open editor, view contents, close editor. Same for region #3. Ableton: Piano roll: Logic Pro: macOS (also previously for Windows & Atari ST) Proprietary: Apple/Emagic (formerly named C-Lab Piano roll, step editor, event list: LMMS: Linux, macOS, OpenBSD, Windows: GPL-2.0-or-later: Piano roll, step sequencer: DAW; VST, LADSPA support. As of March 30, 2011 no MIDI aftertouch support MAGIX Samplitude.
*Create MIDI clip with the instrument and FX you want
*Right click the clip and Freeze Track
*Select the frozen MIDI clip and drag to an Audio track
*You’ve got your bounce of that clip!
Ogg sound files. As you can see, in Ableton it is incredibly easy to convert a MIDI clip into an audio clip. This is great for quickly creating samples to perform audio effects, splices, pitching and stretching effects. Plus as the instrument/FX are no longer driving the audio, you’re saving on CPU too!Ableton Live How To Open Piano Roll
